How to use Markdown to HTML

  1. 1. Type or paste Markdown into the left editor. A short example is loaded so you can see headings, bold text and lists working immediately.
  2. 2. Watch the right-hand panel: it renders a live preview of the HTML as you type, including headings, links, lists, code and tables.
  3. 3. Adjust your Markdown until the preview looks right. Standard syntax such as # headings, **bold**, [links](url) and fenced code blocks is supported.
  4. 4. Click Copy HTML to copy the generated HTML code, then paste it into your website, CMS, email template or README.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Markdown to HTML converter free?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up and no length limit beyond what your browser can handle. You can convert as much Markdown as you like and copy the HTML as many times as you need.

Is my Markdown sent to a server when I convert it?

No. The conversion runs in your browser with the open-source marked library, which the page loads from a public CDN. Your text is never sent to our server, and nothing is saved after you leave the page.

How do I convert a README.md file to HTML?

Open the README in any text editor, copy its contents and paste them into the left panel. Check the preview, then click Copy HTML. The output uses GitHub-flavored Markdown features such as tables and fenced code blocks.

Does the Markdown converter support tables and code blocks?

Yes. The marked library supports GitHub-flavored Markdown by default, including pipe tables, fenced code blocks, strikethrough and autolinks. Code blocks become pre and code tags, which you can style with your site’s CSS or a syntax highlighter.

Does the HTML output include CSS styling?

No. You get clean semantic HTML such as headings, paragraphs, lists and links without inline styles, so it takes on your site’s own stylesheet. The colors in the preview panel are only for display on this page.

Is the generated HTML safe to paste into my website?

The converter doesn’t sanitize raw HTML, so any HTML you write inside the Markdown is passed through as is. That’s fine for your own content, but if you convert Markdown written by other people, run it through a sanitizer before publishing.
