How to use Crop Image
- 1. Drop a photo into the box. The editor opens with a crop box you can drag to move and resize from its corners and edges.
- 2. Pick an aspect ratio button: Free, 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, 16:9, 4:3, 3:2, 2:3, Passport 2×2in or Circle. A rule-of-thirds grid helps framing.
- 3. For exact pixels, type values into the W and H boxes; with a ratio selected, the other side follows. Choose Keep format, PNG, JPG or WebP.
- 4. Click Crop & download to save the cropped image, named with a -cropped suffix. Use New image to crop another photo.
Frequently asked questions
Is the crop image tool free, and does it reduce quality?
It is free with no watermark. The crop is cut directly from your original pixels, so there’s no resizing. PNG output is lossless, while JPG and WebP are saved at 95% quality, which keeps the result very close to the original.
Is my photo uploaded when I crop it?
No. The image is loaded and cropped with an HTML canvas in your browser, and the file downloads straight to your device. Nothing is sent to our server, so it’s safe for personal photos and ID pictures.
How do I crop a photo to a perfect square for Instagram?
Click 1:1, drag the box over the part you want and resize from a corner; the square shape stays locked. For Instagram portrait posts choose 4:5, and for Stories or Reels choose 9:16. Then click Crop & download.
How do I crop an image into a circle?
Select Circle. The box becomes a round 1:1 crop, and the download is saved as PNG with a transparent area outside the circle, ready for profile pictures and logos. JPG is switched to PNG because JPG can’t store transparency.
How do I crop an image to an exact pixel size?
Choose Free, then type the width in W and the height in H. The live size readout shows the crop in pixels. The crop can’t be larger than the original image, so upscale first with a resize tool if you need bigger dimensions.
What formats can I save a cropped image in?
Keep format saves PNG, JPG or WebP in the same format as your original; other inputs are saved as PNG. You can also force PNG, JPG or WebP from the menu. JPG output gets a white background where the image was transparent.
