Frequently asked questions
Is this text to speech tool free, and is there a character limit?
Yes, it’s free with no sign-up, and you can download the MP3 without a watermark. Each generation takes up to 20,000 characters; long text is split into sentence-sized parts automatically. For longer scripts, generate in sections and combine the files.
Is my text uploaded to generate the AI voice?
No. The Natural AI voices use the open-source Kokoro-82M model, which your browser downloads once (about 90 MB) and then runs on your device. Your text never reaches our server. Device voices use your operating system or browser’s built-in speech, which some browsers may process online.
How do I convert text to speech and download it as an MP3?
Paste your text, pick a Natural AI voice and speed, then click Generate voice. When it finishes, press Download MP3 (128 kbps mono) or WAV for lossless audio. Device voices can only play aloud, because browsers don’t allow recording them.
Which voices and languages are available?
The Natural AI engine offers 16 English voices: 10 American (female and male, including warm, bright, soft and deep options) and 6 British. For Spanish, French, German and other languages, switch to Device voices, which lists every voice installed on your device or browser.
Why is AI text to speech slow on my phone?
The voice is generated on your device, so speed depends on its processor. The first run also has to download the voice model. Newer laptops and phones are much faster; on older devices, try shorter text or use Device voices, which play instantly.
Can I use the generated voiceover in YouTube videos or podcasts?
The Kokoro-82M model is released under the Apache-2.0 license, and the audio file is created on your device for you to use. You can download it as MP3 for most video editors or WAV for editing. Always check each platform’s own policies on AI-generated voice content.
