Are my JPG photos uploaded when converting to PNG?
No. Each image is decoded and re-saved as PNG on your own device using your browser’s canvas. Your photos never reach our server. Only helper libraries, such as the HEIC or TIFF decoder or the ZIP builder, are downloaded when needed.
Does converting JPG to PNG improve image quality?
No. PNG is lossless, so it won’t add any further quality loss, but it can’t restore detail already lost in JPG compression. The PNG keeps the same pixel dimensions and usually has a larger file size. Convert to PNG when you need a lossless copy for editing.
Can I make a JPG background transparent by converting it to PNG?
Not by converting alone. JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same solid background. To remove the background, run the image through a background remover first, then save it as PNG to keep the transparent areas.
How do I convert iPhone HEIC photos to PNG?
Drop the HEIC files into the upload box just like JPGs. The tool loads a HEIC decoder in your browser, converts each photo, and saves it as PNG. For much smaller files that are still widely compatible, switch Convert to JPG instead.
Why is my PNG file larger than the original JPG?
JPG uses lossy compression designed for photos, while PNG stores every pixel exactly. For photographs, PNG files are often several times larger. That’s normal. If size matters more than lossless quality, keep JPG or choose WebP.
